After years of testing and thoughtful evaluation, we’ve made the choice to paint The Hefty Hopper instead of powder-coating it.
While powder coating works well in low-impact environments, it’s a different story for heavy-duty equipment like dump hoppers. When powder coatings chip—and trust us, they will under tough conditions—moisture sneaks beneath the surface. This leads to rust forming and causes the coating to peel away far too quickly.
Paint, on the other hand, offers a more reliable defense. It’s less prone to chipping in large sections and more likely to develop minor scratches or dents, which significantly reduces the risk of moisture creeping in and causing long-term corrosion. For every hopper we make, we use premium enamel paint because only the best will do.
At the end of the day, we’re committed to building self-dumping hoppers that stand the test of time—durable, reliable, and ready for whatever your business throws at them.
